Carolie Coates, Ph.D., created the Caring Efficacy Scale, which is a measurement tool to assess nurses’ or other caregivers’ efficacy in establishing caring relationships in clinical settings. Using a rating scale, the Caring Efficacy Scale measures both self-reporting of nurses and nursing supervisor input. The CES is in use across the United States and has a proven track record of success. Nurses can use this rating scale with their patients and clients in a clinical setting.
